The Member of Parliament deployed to the constituency including Ga-Maja Village, Hon Mosa Chabane (MP), commended the government and leadership of the ANC in the Limpopo Province for their swift response following the tragic incident in Ga-Maja village, where several people lost their lives and others were hospitalised at Lebowakgomo Hospital due to suspected food poisoning linked to a funeral gathering.
Honourable Chabane said, “the loss of life is deeply regrettable, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to the affected families during this difficult time. Our thoughts are also with those receiving medical care, and we wish them a full and speedy recovery.”
Together with the Constituency Management Committee (CMC), Hon Chabane welcomed the rapid intervention by the Department of Health to urgently investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragedy, determine the exact cause, and implement measures to prevent a recurrence.
“It is critical that a thorough and transparent investigation is conducted without delay. Communities must be assured that their safety is a priority and that all necessary steps will be taken to avoid such tragedies in the future,” he emphasised.
Hon Chabane, together with Ward Councillor Ntlemo, will visit the affected families to monitor developments and provide support. The leadership has called for calm in the community while the government continues to address the matter.
