The ANC Caucus bids Chief Justice Raymond Zondo farewell as his tenure at the helm of the Constitutional Court ends on 31 August 2024. We believe that the Chief Justice has served the country and its people with dignity, dedication, and respect without fear or favour, and applauds his unquestionable loyalty to the South African constitution as the supreme law of the country. His unwavering support to our thriving democracy is unquestionable and commended. 

Under his tenure as Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court, Chief Justice Zondo defended and safeguarded the independence of the judiciary, especially when the judiciary was under immense attack with the objective of weakening it. As a result of his courageous stance, we have a strong, independent and functioning judiciary.

The country will remember him for his sterling work as the Chairperson of the Zondo Commission exposing corruption, malfeasance, and the looting of public funds. The ANC Caucus thus believes that the recommendations of the Zondo Commission, which required endless hours, lots of public resources and arduous work, should be acted upon to the letter of the law.
