PRESIDENT RAMAPHOSA UNVEILS A 12M STATUE OF KING SHAKA AT DURBAN AIRPORT

The ANC welcomes the unveiling of the statue of Zulu King Shaka Zulu by President Cyril Ramaphosa, alongside King Misizulu kaZwelithini and the KZN Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli on Thursday 7 November 2024. This event was a partnership between the provincial government and the national government. The statue is a tribute to King Shaka, the founding father of the Zulu nation and is a monument that will serve as a symbol of unity, strength, and pride not only for the people of KZN by for the entire nation.

King Shaka’s leadership and military strategy forged one of the most powerful kingdoms in Southern Africa. The unveiling of the statue aims to honour his legacy and preserve his memory for future generations.  The ANC welcomes the lifting high of our heroes. May this statue continue to honour his memory as a beacon of courage, resilience and leadership. We congratulate the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government, the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, the Department of Transport and the Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) for fulfilling their undertaking to erect this memorial in honour of iSilo uShaka.
