I hereby give notice that in the next sitting of the Council, I shall move on behalf of the African National Congress that the Council: –

1. Debates South Africa’s readiness for disasters and the need to strengthen the readiness of provinces and municipalities for disasters;
2. Acknowledges that South Africa is facing increasing levels of disaster risk that has been exposed to a wide range of weather hazards, including drought, fire, tropical cyclones and severe weather hazards that can trigger widespread hardship and devastation.
