I hereby move without notice on behalf of the African National Congress that the House –

Notes with concern that heavy rains and strong winds have damaged infrastructure in Pietermaritzburg in KwaZulu Natal.

Further, note that the roof of the administration building at the Ashdown Primary School in Edendale has been blown off and the school has been flooded.

Also note that the Edendale hospital which is located in the same vicinity has also been reported to have been affected.

Also, note that the South African Weather Services has issued Yellow Level 4 warnings for parts of KwaZulu Natal and the Eastern Cape.

Therefore, call on the Administrations of the two provinces to make the necessary preparations to protect the lives and infrastructure of their provinces
