Statement By Ms Mavis Nontsikelelo Magazi On FET Colleges And SETA’s Putting Students On Workplace Placements

10 November 2009

ANC is committed to increase graduate output in areas of skills shortages. This measure includes streamlining SETAS and other institutions, to address existing and forecast skills shortages.

Hence, on Sunday 01 November 09, the Department of Higher Education and Training took over control of the Setas from the Department of Labour.

To allow Further Education and Training (FET) colleges to work closer with the Sector Education Training Authorities (Setas) in order to align the needs and provisions of training and skills development

This undertaking will help the process of putting and coordinating students on one-year workplace placement programmes.

ANC places Further Education and Training colleges at the centre of a popular drive to develop skills development for the economy.

I thank you!
