Statement By Ms Beatrice Ngcobo On Education

10 November 2009

The ANC government is indeed recognising education as one of the priorities by aggressively, opening the doors of learning. We congratulate the University of Zululand for the new campus that will officially be opened in Richards Bay, in 2010 and for recognising the need for provision of focussed education offerings that will assist graduates to be immediately employable. The university will attract professionals with diverse experience, skills, and expertise as well as students from diverse backgrounds.

Richards Bay has massive industrial growth, which will provide potential development to local government and rural communities. as the university will form partnerships with industries and the private sector.
This university has moved from the Bantustan education type to universal and is the only higher education institution that is accredited in Zululand.

The first phase of the campus, worth R100 million is almost at completion. The final phase worth R300 million will accommodate the faculty of Science, Engineering, Technology and Instrumentation will be completed by the end of the year. Potential students could start enrolling now.

To the wayfarers to the construction of this institution where it is, at the time that was good work. They never thought it would grow this fast. KZN ANC led government keep the doors of learning opened. To higher education keep rolling education to the most disadvantaged in society. Of cause only a woman can do within her short space of time in her rectorship, Mama Prof. Rachel Gumbi, sithi wathinta abafazi wathinti imbokodo, Malibongwe.

I thank you!
