Statement on the late UCDP leader

5 December 2011

The Office of the ANC Chief Whip has learned with sadness the passing on of Ms Mavis Matladi (MP), leader of the United Christian Democratic Party (UCDP) and Member of Parliament, after a short illness. Ms Matladi served her party in various positions and was also elected president of the Women`s Caucus in the Pan African Parliament in 2009.

She was passionate about serving her party and displayed enormous commitment to her work. Ms Matladi was a member of the Parliamentary Interfaith Council which recently held a successful Parliamentary Interfaith Dialogue. She will be remembered for her contribution to the campaign for the restoration of moral and ethical values in our society.

The Office of the Chief Whip extends its heartfelt condolences and sympathy to her family, friends, and colleagues.
