Last Friday the African National Congress launched the Education campaign in Kliptown. The aim to the initiative is to elevate education from being a departmental issue, or even a governmental issue, to being a societal issue. The one that should occupy the attention and energy of all the people
The Freedom Charter says; "Education shall be free, compulsory, universal and equal for all children; Higher education and technical training shall be opened to all by means of state allowances and scholarships awarded on the basis of merit."
The African National Congress believes that if all sections of society work together - government, communities, civil society, business, media and other sectors - we can ensure that all learners benefit from quality education. We call on all South Africans to join us in this campaign, as part of the ongoing effort to achieve a better life for all.
