Special Investigations Unit Tribunal appointed
The ANC views corruption as a broad societal problem prevalent in both the public and private sectors and thus requires the commitment of all citizens in society to eradicate it. We therefore welcome the announcement of the establishment of a Special Tribunal Unit by President Cyril Ramaphosa, which is aimed at swiftly recovering monies and assets lost by state institutions through irregular and corrupt means. This will fast track the finalisation of matters that the Special Investigating Unit refers for civil litigation, following the conclusion of their investigations for both public and private sectors persons and entities.
This special Tribunal is led by Judge Mlindelwa Makhanya, who is supported by seven other judges. The ANC is of the view that fast-tracking the matters through the Special Tribunal will enable the SIU to recover monies and or assets lost by state institutions through irregular and corrupt means. The setting up of this Tribunal is an indication that the ANC is serious and is committed to a corruption free society, ethical behaviour across society, and a Government that is accountable to the people.
I thank you
