Parliament endorses candidates for Public Service Commission

06 December 2016

The Office of the ANC Chief Whip welcomes the National Assembly's endorsement of Mr. Richard Khaliphile Sizani, Ms. Clara Phumelele Nzimande and Dr Tholumuzi Bruno Luthuli for appointment as commissioners to the Public Service Commission.

The candidates, who reflect continuity, expertise and gender parity, were endorsed by an overwhelming 269 members of Parliament. Mr. Sizani holds an LLM Degree in Public Law and LLM Degree in International Law; Ms. Ndzimande holds a BA Hons in Social Science; and Dr Luthuli holds a PhD in Public Affairs.

The Public Service Commission is tasked to, amongst others, investigate, monitor, and evaluate the organisation and administration of the public service. The mandate entails the evaluation of achievements, or lack thereof, of Government programmes. The PSC also has an obligation to promote measures that would ensure effective and efficient performance within the public service and to promote values and principles of public administration as set out in the Constitution throughout the Public Service.

We commend Parliament for carrying out its duty diligently and transparently. Parliament will, in line with the law, forward these names to the President for appointment.
