- appreciates the 29-year-old Eastern Cape school principal who steered his under-resourced rural school from a 28% matric pass rate in 2018 to an impressive 88.6% in 2021;
- remembers that the district education authorities urgently roped in Abonga Mdze in as a teacher in 2019, after the school's dismal performance the year before;
- remembers that Abonga started his official teaching career as a mathematics teacher at the KT Mchasa Senior Secondary School in Tsolo in 2015 and while there, he started winter classes that saw the school’s maths result improve;
