Motion commending the Police Swift arrest of suspects connected to the murder of Thoriso Themane

The African National Congress moves without notice: That the House

1) commends the police for swiftly arresting the suspects in connection with the murder of Thoriso Themane;
2) notes that Themane, a 27 year old local musician, was assaulted and left for dead on Saturday night,16 February 2019, in the Flora Park suburb;
3) also notes that he was found the following day and taken to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries;
4) understands that Themane was returning home from music practice at church when he was allegedly attacked by a mob of teenage boys;
5) believes that five schoolboys were arrested on Wednesday, 20 February 2019 after video clips of the attack, which they fimed themselves, went viral on social media;
6) also believes that a sixth suspect, also a minor, was arrested early the following day, with three more suspects arrested late on Thursday and a total of 9 suspects arrested thus far;
7) thanks the police for the speedy arrests of the suspects; and
8) calls upon all law abiding citizens to continue to assist the police by providing valuable information that will be helpful in fighting crime.
