Celebrating the handover of a computer lab at Saint Francis College in Mariannhill
The ANC welcomes the hand -over of a computer lab to the historic Saint Francis College in Mariannhill in KwaZulu-Natal. The computer lab was handed over by the Telecommunications and Postal Services Department on Monday 03 November 2014.
This lab is equipped with the latest cutting edge educational technology that is energy efficient. It has 32 computers, a server, cabinet, network switch, cabling and air conditioners.
SITA will ensure the provision of ICT integration training for teachers and learners, additional infrastructure requirements, internet connectivity as well as ongoing technical maintenance and support of the ICT Lab. The learners can access recorded lessons at their own time for revision purposes.
This is an example of how this government is pursuing progressive partnerships with State-Owned Companies to deliver our goals as a developmental State. This computer lab helps to close the digital gap by introducing the teachers and learners to modern ways of teaching and learning.
This moves us closer to the goal of developing a competitive knowledge and information society that is envisaged by the National Development Plan. We congratulate the community of Mariannhill on this modern tool of societal transformation and development.
