ANC welcomes the outcome of Labour Court judgement

The ANC welcomes the outcome of the Labour Court judgement on Tuesday 8 October 2019 to dismiss the application filed by trade union Solidarity to challenge the Employment Equality Act and affirmative action programmes as unconstitutional.  The report evaluates government's programme of socio-economic transformation from a rights-based perspective and deals, in part with transformation in the workplace and the implementation of the Employment Equity Act.

The Solidarity trade union used the South African Human Rights Equality Report to seek an order declaring that Section 42 of the Employment Equity Act is unconstitutional. We view these measures as further proof that white privilege remains dominant, and are protected by  organisations such as the Solidarity Trade Union with its mainly white of workers. All this demonstrates is their willingness to continue fighting for white workers and white interests.
