ANC Caucus Statement on Women's Parliament

19 August 2008

The ANC Parliamentary Caucus wishes hundreds of women delegates from all over South Africa well in their discussions during this year's sitting of the Women's Parliament, taking place in Cape Town from 19-20 August.

The annual Women's Parliament, being held this year under the theme: "Parliament Empowering Women for Poverty Eradication", is an opportunity for women of our country to discuss myriad challenges facing them and interact with members of Parliament on key issues affecting their daily lives.

The Women's Parliament will among others deliberate on the role of social movements and regional women's organisations in the eradiation of poverty and economic empowerment of women.

The outcome of the deliberations will be presented to Parliament in form of a report for consideration.
