It is with great sorrow that the ANC Parliamentary Caucus has learned of the untimely passing of the Member of Parliament HRH Princess Sibuyiselwe Buthelezi in the early hours of this morning following a short illness.

Princess Sibuyiselwe, the daughter of Inkatha Freedom Party founder, the late Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, was not only a highly respected woman; she also held a position of great seniority in the community and Buthelezi clan. She served as a Member of the 7th Parliament until her demise and was held in high regard by people who knew her. Honourable Buthelezi was one of the most dedicated humble servants of the people who stood firm in her convictions.

The ANC Caucus values the cordial working relationship with the IFP and the Buthelezi family. We offer the Buthelezi family, and the IFP our heartfelt condolences and wish them strength during this difficult time of grief.

Princess Sibuyiselwe’s passing is a huge loss to the Seventh Parliament and the communities she worked with.

May her revolutionary soul Rest in Peace.
