As the ANC, we welcome Eskom’s turnaround strategy to address the energy crisis and the challenge of load-shedding. We have experienced uninterrupted electricity supply since 26 March 2024 indicating that we are turning the corner on this crisis. Consistent electricity supply is now a step closer due to the steadfast implementation of the Energy Action Plan (EAP) announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa in July 2022.

The Energy Action Plan is in great part focused on planned maintenance work and rebuilding expertise to achieve energy security by bringing onboard new generation capacity. This has contributed significantly to a more consistent power supply and no load-shedding over the last several months. This is an essential enabler for economic growth and positively impacts on the quality of life, allowing the masses of our people to continue their daily activities unhindered.

The ANC Caucus congratulates Eskom on achieving this critical milestone and urges South Africans to continue adopting an energy-saving lifestyle to protect our national grid.
