The ANC Parliamentary Caucus has welcomed Comrade Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula’s resignation as the National Assembly Speaker and Member of Parliament today, Wednesday, 03 April 2024.

As the ANC Caucus, we wish to thank Comrade Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula for her role in serving the South African people since she was deployed by the ANC in 1994 as a Member of Parliament and the Executive.

The ANC Caucus also affirms Comrade Nosiviwe’s assertion that her resignation is not an admission of guilt of the allegations against her.

We respect her decision to resign in order “to preserve and protect the integrity of Parliament.”

The ANC Caucus will forever be grateful for the role the NA Speaker played in her relatively brief tenure. She championed the causes of the poor and women at home and in various international forums where she represented South Africa.

The ANC Caucus wishes Comrade Comrade Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula well in her future endeavours.
