I hereby move without notice on behalf of the African National Congress that the Council: –

1. Notes that today (4 November) marks World Tsunami Awareness Day 5 November, which is a day that was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015 to increase awareness about the dangers of tsunamis and encourage preparation in case a natural disaster strikes,
2. Further notes that World Tsunami Awareness Day 5 November is also intended to raise awareness and community education about the need to join efforts to mitigate the devastating impacts of tsunamis and climate change; and
3. Acknowledges that the biggest threat to tsunamis are rising sea levels and seismic sea waves that are aggravated by tornadoes, hurricanes, flooding, droughts, and earthquakes as a result of climate change.
