Professional History: I am a Member of Parliament in the National Council of provinces representing the province of the Eastern Cape. I joined Parliament in May 2014. I served in two Select Committees on Economic and Business development and Trade and International Relations. I am the Chairperson of the Select Committee on Economic and Business Development responsible for the oversight of the 6 Departments namely Energy, Economic Development, Labour, Transport, Public Works and Small business development. I also serve as a committee member of the Select committee on Trade and International relations responsible for oversight of the departments of Trade and Industry, Tourism and International Relations. Before joining parliament, I worked for the Congress of South African Trade Unions an alliance partner with the African National Congress from 2001 to 2014. I worked as a Provincial Secretary of the Eastern Cape responsible for the coordination of the COSATU affiliated unions
